Actually, I think it's a very profound commentary on what happens when the wisdom of the east meets the wisdom of the west.
You're right, of course. I rather liked the episode of the Simpsons where Lisa poses the one hand clapping question to Bart, and Bart, not missing a beat, claps one hand by slapping his fingers against his palm. It actually does make a sound.
